It is the sad story of a Young girl named Sophie. She is still at school and belongs to a rather poor family. But she has very high dreams about her future. She has no source of any money. Yet she says that after school, She will buy a nice boutique for herself. She says that she will start as a manager straight off and thus collect a lot of money. But she never stop to think who will take such a young and inexperienced girl as a manager straight off. Then she says she will be an actress and run her shop side by side. She dreams of becoming a fashion designer also through she knows nothing of the job. It is because of such dreamy ambitions of the girl that her father says to her once, “One of these days, you are going to talk yourself into a load of trouble.” And She actually does land herself in trouble. After a chance meeting with a famous league player named Danny casey, She thinks that the young prodigy has taken a fancy to her. She tells her brother exaggerated stories about it . She tell him that Danny has promised to meet her. Her brothers’ reaction at once is : “It’s the unlikeliest thing I Ever heard.” As imagined by her in her own dreams, She keeps waiting for him at a secluded place away from the town. In her heat of hearts, she know that he won’t come and yet she keep waiting and waiting. And at last she has to leave with a broken heart. She has also the fear that she would become a butt off ridicule among all the neighbourhood who had come to know of her imaginary romance.

4. Sophie lives with her Father,Mother, a little brother
named Derek and an elder brother named Geoff. The Father seems to be a carefree
person. He goes to the pub whenever he likes. The poor mother has to attend to
the whole household work. Geoff has been three years out of school and works as
an apprentice mechanic. He is a very quiet sort of person and hardly shares
with anyone his outside activities.

self- deception. At last, she begins to feel sad and leaves the place. She
feels broken- hearted. She has also a fear in her mind that she will become a
butt of ridicule in the neighborhood .Thus Sophie has to suffer because of her
dreamy and self- deceptive ambitions.
